Government meddling

I haven’t yet read this article about Obama’s bank czar cracking down on executive pay but I wanted to blog because I have to state unequivocally and uncategorically that I think the role of government should be as limited as possible, and this easily oversteps those bounds. It is not the government’s place to regulate anything that can or will regulate itself. In this case, let the stockholders and consumers apply the appropriate pressures. What the government should do instead is make an environment that is as free as possible so that the news of these abuses can be made known to such parties, and they can apply pressure appropriately. There’s no reason to continue to concentrate greater and greater power into a centralized government body.

I think I may eventually become a libertarian.
